Services Offered
The Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service was established in 1990 to provide professional bereavement care to the community of the Southern Highlands as well as the Wollondilly community.
Bereavement Care can include professional Bereavement Counselling from one of our trained counsellors. Counselling can occur either in our offices or if preferred, through home visits to those who require it. While clients are sometimes referred by their doctor or Palliative Care nurse, this is not necessary - anyone can contact us direct to arrange an appointment.
Counselling is absolutely private and confidentiality is assured.
The service offered could include support and on-going follow up from one of our Bereavement Support Volunteers. It could include attending one of our support groups such as the Widows Support Group or the Men and Grief group.
In addition to these services the Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service has an extensive library of books on every aspect of loss and grief. These resources, books as well as DVDs are available for loan to members of the public, clients and those interested in grief and recovery.
The Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service also offers number of relevant training opportunities in the area of Grief and Loss throughout the year. For those wanting training for their organisation on a particular topic, training can be designed with a specific need in mind by our experienced staff.
